NABERS WASTE

"A respected measure of environment impact"
NABERS Waste measures and scores how well buildings manage waste generation and recycling. It compares them to the NABERS industry benchmark. The rating is driven by an online platform that tracks data and converts the waste data into useful management insights.

A NABERS rating of up to six stars is calculated from the data and quality of the data collected. Please contact us or visit the NABERS website for further information.

About the Waste Manager Platform

Is my building eligible for a rating?

Is your building eligible for a rating?
NABERS offers two benchmark options for the rating:

-
Base building: Measures only those wastes contracted by the building owner. This rating provides insights into the management of the building, irrespective of which tenants are in the building.

-
Whole building: Measures any waste that leaves from the building, where it can be reliably measured. This rating suits a building with highly engaged tenants who are working with building management.
Data quality
A higher data quality score is achieved through a combination of weight-based data, waste audits, bin count and verification checks.

Knowwaste will work with you and your stakeholders to achieve the highest data score available.

Furthermore, Knowwaste will provide you with recommendations on how to improve your data quality score for future ratings.
Waste data upload
Whether you have streamlined waste data or an inbox full of waste invoices from different suppliers, we can help you monitor and format the data for seamless integration to the NABERS Waste platform.

If you have no data or waste invoices we can work with your waste and recycling contractors to obtain the data on your behalf and complete the waste data upload process.
Material Recovery Score
We will complete a MRS to increase the opportunity for a higher rating for your building.
This score is a measure of the quality of the end-of-life outcome of waste leaving a commercial building. It aligns to the waste hierarchy and circular economy principles. This change ensures that waste ratings more accurately reflect a building’s environmental impact.

Through the MRS NABERS are targeting:

-
reduced carbon emissions
-
faster transition to a circular economy
-
support for better resource recovery through clean stream source separation
-
reduction of pollution, or risk of pollution.
